Mission Statement

The Fayette County Accountability Courts were implemented to increase public safety, reduce recidivism and community costs, focus on accountability and promote a prosocial behavior. The programs are abstinence based and involves intensive treatment and supervision for offenders with misdemeanor charges. The Accountability Court programs are a team concept involving the Judge, the Solicitor General, private attorney’s, Law Enforcement, the Public Defender's Office, A Court Coordinator, Probation Officers, case managers, community liaisons and licensed substance abuse treatment professionals. The team members work together to support each participant in addressing and combating the issues that brought them into the criminal justice system.

The Fayette County DUI Court program was implemented in January 2016. It is a post-conviction, abstinence based, intensive treatment, and intensive supervision program for offenders with multiple convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol. The DUI Court program is a team concept involving Judge, the Solicitor General, private attornies, Law Enforcement, the Public Defender's Office, A Court Coordinator, Probation Officers, community liaisons, and licensed substance abuse treatment professionals. The team members work together to support each participant in addressing and combating the substance abuse issues that brought them into the criminal justice system.
